Background

The new 31,000 square-foot Manufacturing Training Academy at Southwestern Illinois College offers expanded training opportunities for students pursuing careers in the growing manufacturing industry. The facility features a structural steel and stud-framed design, incorporating metal bar joists, masonry load-bearing walls, and masonry veneer, with ceiling heights ranging from 17 to 32 feet. Inside, the building is equipped with both automated and manual machinery, a vocational shop, classrooms, and a computer lab to support hands-on learning and skill development.
